“O! Say Does That Star-Spangled…”

There is a lot to know about Oriole Park at Camden Yards, the beautiful home of the Baltimore Orioles. You’ll have a much better and cheaper experience when you’re aware of it all. For example…

Guide to camden yards

Start getting your O’s game on now!

  • The Orioles offer some nice deals on tickets…like with kids fan clubs and bargain nights…and there can be a big difference in price for almost identical seats when buying tickets from the team website, the box office, or third parties like SeatGeek…
  • Some seats have a better view than others…of the warehouse, the Baltimore skyline, the main scoreboard, the out-of-town scoreboard, Eutaw Street, or of course, the game itself! Even some of those millennial-friendly standing room spots are better than others…
  • Instead of driving to the game, you can use the Light Rail, the subway, the Charm City Circulator bus or even the inexpensive MARC train from D.C. for day games. You can even ride in a Water Taxi to the nearby Inner Harbor! Knowing the best route to the game can make your life much easier.
  • There is a wide variety of great food choices at Camden Yards, some with a great Maryland feel…like the Walk-Off sausage, Old Bay crab cakes, potato chips covered in crab dip, not to mention Boog’s BBQ, Esskay dogs, even Korean tacos!
  • Camden Yards now features beautiful statues of Orioles greats like Brooks Robinson, a fun interactive kids play area, lots of history on Eutaw Street like the O’s Hall of Fame…the list goes on…
  • You can also take part in a pre- and post-game scene that is like few in baseball…places like Pickles Pub and Slider’s and the Pratt Street Ale House get hopping before and after games…and people enjoy much cheaper beer!

Even many lifelong Orioles fans don’t know about the many ways to save a bunch of money and have a much better experience at the ballpark that revolutionized live sports.

“I learned A LOT of things I didn’t know even though I’ve been going to the Yard since I was 5…It’s written well and not boring at all, it’s got a nice tone and he shares his opinion often.”

Yes, You Can Find Cheaper Tickets And Parking…

Every time I visit Camden Yards, I see it…

People overpaying for tickets at the box office for low demand games, sitting in seats with an obstructed view of the skyline, warehouse or scoreboard, getting caught up in avoidable downtown Baltimore traffic, parking cars in lots just steps away from lots that cost half the price, and paying absurd baseball prices for dogs and burgers that they could just as easily bring in for much less.

Want to hear something I hear a LOT from fans of every team, not just the Orioles?

“I can’t go to that many games anymore. It just costs too much, especially with the kids.”

It simply does not occur to thousands of fans that they can get better seats for less just by shopping around, get to the ballpark much more easily and cheaply, or have a great food item at the game…and that there are so many ways to save money on all of it!

Yes, some of us have limited means. (Actually, all of us have limited means, right?)

I’m better off now than when I had to (and did) stretch every dollar to see Orioles games years ago, but that doesn’t mean I want to spend more than I have to today.

I can’t just throw around $183.34 to take the family to an Orioles game. Even if I could, that number is too large for me. I get the itch to see Orioles baseball a lot more frequently than that price allows me to.

That’s why I started writing these booklets.

“Ballpark E-Guides were a truly tremendous resource. Like many, my life is complicated being a dad and husband, but Kurt’s tips saved me time and energy, allowing me to find the perfect seats to suit my ballpark personality and budget.

I recommend leveraging Kurt and the knowledge he has gathered in his E-Guides. It simplifies the guessing and allows you to basically sit back and just enjoy the game!”

I Slapped My Head When I Learned That…

If you haven’t read my bio, I’ll share just a bit about how I got started doing this.

When I was a younger Orioles fan, I made frequent trips to Camden Yards for games. Because baseball was expensive then too, I found ways to stretch my ballpark dollar…and I got pretty good at it, or so I thought.

I thought it might make a good book to have insider tips for every ballpark, so I started researching Citizens Bank Park in my hometown of Philadelphia.

I couldn’t believe what I didn’t know about the seating areas, the many ways to get there and the cool food offerings at CBP…but most of all, I couldn’t believe how much I had been overpaying for tickets, parking and food.

Very long story short, today I have similarly researched 15 ballparks, including the beautiful Camden Yards in Baltimore. The result is Ballpark E-Guides.

I have a lot more fun going to Orioles games these days, and I spend a lot less than I once did, even 20 years ago!

“Kurt Smith dives into the ballpark experience and produces page after page of useful advice and information for the fan who wants to know it all every time they go to the ballpark.”

Did you know…

Here is just a small sampling of the things I’ve learned about Camden Yards:

• A great ticket deal that the Orioles offer for kids. (See Page 8 of the Oriole Park at Camden Yards E-Guide.)

• How to get an inexpensive seat in the lower level with an unobstructed view. (See Page 12.)

• How to avoid seats that aren’t angled comfortably for a good view of the field. (That’s annoying, isn’t it?) (See Page 13.)

• How to avoid that ridiculous Baltimore traffic…especially roads to steer clear of on weekends. (See Page 15.)

• Where I can park my car for free…in a safe, not very distant garage. (See Page 17.)

• A convenient Light Rail station with free parking, where I can hop on a streetcar for a hassle-free and inexpensive ride to the ballpark. (See Page 18.)

• The free bus that will take you to the ballpark from Penn Station, Fell’s Point, or Little Italy. (See Page 20.)

• Where to find waffle fries with crab dip, maple glazed bacon on a stick, a sausage with crab dip in a pretzel roll, or a local dog with crabmeat and mac and cheese piled on. And what’s more baseball than that? (See Pages 22-24.)

• How to get a free soda inside the ballpark. (See Page 28.)

• Which entrance to use for far shorter lines on popular giveaway nights. (See Page 29.)

• Where I can enjoy an inexpensive Natty Boh before or after the game…and where I can get a great sandwich, a couple of bottled drinks and a big cheap bag of peanuts to bring into the ballpark. (See Page 30.)

I love knowing stuff like this…every baseball fan does. Because free parking = more to spend on a cool hat or large waffle fries!

“I live in NJ and recently planned a trip to see an Orioles game for my husband’s birthday…I used the E-Guide for everything from buying tickets to prepaid parking. I especially loved the Tightwad Tips. We had a blast!

This is a great guide and I will be using Ballpark E-Guides next year for my trip to Boston and Fenway Park!”

The Complete Guide. Completely.

I’m not a bragging sort, but I will tell you that I don’t mess around with this.

I would say I’ve spent…and I’m being VERY conservative estimating this…close to 50 hours poring through websites, blogs, message boards and forums for useful Camden Yards knowledge, walking around not just the inside of Camden Yards but the surrounding area, and taking hundreds of photographs.

That’s not including the time it takes to put it all in a slick, helpfully illustrated, easy-to-read, conveniently bookmarked eBook for your edification. If you’re going to order knowledge from me, I want you to get your money’s worth!

I’m sure you wouldn’t want to spend 50 hours in front of a computer screen, researching all the things that the Oriole Park at Camden Yards E-Guide will tell you. If you paid me minimum wage for 50 hours, you’d be out $362.50. And I’m positive that your leisure time is worth much more than the minimum wage.

Not complaining at all; I’m happy to do all of the research for you.

Without any doubt, every guide will enhance your appreciation for whatever ballpark you happen to be in, but it will also help you save a TON of money along the way…no matter what park I go to, my first step (including for where to get the best tickets), is consulting Kurt Smith and his E-Guides. For me, it has forever changed game day, for the better!”
